DIGITAL LITERACY SKILLS AND INFORMATION SHARING AS DETERMINANTS OF PRODUCTIVITY OF LIBRARY PERSONNEL IN STATE- OWNED COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN SOUTH WEST NIGERIA

Abstract

This study investigated the place of digital literacy skills and information sharing as
determinants of productivity of library personnel in State owned colleges of education in
South West, Nigeria. It evolved around determining the level of digital literacy skills
possessed by the library personnel, exploring their information sharing potentials, and find
out the productivity outcome of the two concepts on library personnel in state owned colleges
of education in South West, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted in carrying out
the research using professionals and paraprofessionals in state owned colleges of education
in South West Nigeria. Questionnaire and observatory instrumentation was used for data
collection purposes. Data collected was analysed using chi-square, regression analysis
model at 0.05 level of significance. The study concluded that the digital literacy skills of
library personnel in state owned colleges of education are high. Findings also revealed that
the digital literacy skills possessed by the library personnel are greatly assisting them to
transfer information to library users and colleagues. The study concludes that digital literacy
skills and information sharing determines productivity of library personnel in state owned
colleges of education.
